Christian Men Together are calling all churches to use Father's Day as an opportunity to highlight Men's Ministry throughout Scotland. And better still why not make a special effort to get fathers to church. Jesus said, 'The fields are white unto harvest, but the workers are few!' How true that is today.

Betrayal, ever had that experience? shocking isn't it? Broken promises of allegiance, of marriage vows, of business agreements, can all leave you hurt, bewildered and angry. Our morning reading today from John 18 sees Jesus betrayed by one he counted amongst his closest friends and allies. Unlike us however, the betrayal, even tho' extremely hurtful and malevolent did not take Jesus by surprise, and John's record shows how he was master even of that situation. When he asked the question of those who came with Judas to arrest him 'Who do you seek?' they replied, 'Jesus of Nazareth'! His next short response is worth meditating upon - 'I am he', Jesus said. Men are notoriously bad at developing a reading habit. As I look back on own my life there were periods when I read quite extensively, and other periods when, apart from the Bible, I did not read much at all. I'm sure many of you can relate to that. Denis Prager says 'When I walk into an Evangelical Christian's home and see a total of 30 books, most of them best sellers, I do not understand. I have bookcases of Christian books, and I am a Jew.'
