12 August: Keswick in Buckie
At the recent convention CMT had a stall and we were able to make contact with a number of men in the area who are interested in men's ministry and keen to see churches in the north east working together. We hope to follow up these discussions over the coming weeks. At the convention there was some excellent Bible teaching provided by Colin Adams, Ian Coffey and David Earnshaw. Ian is very interested in coming to speak at one of our men's events. He spoke earlier this year at theCommission and was very happy to be filmed for our DVD which is currently being produced giving a plug to CMT and theCommission.
June 15: 150 Supporters needed - Are YOU one?
In order for the work of CMT to continue in its current form (which includes the employment of a full-time manager) we need to find 150 men who will give £10 per month. In return we will give them (as a small thank you) 10% off all CMT events and theCommission plus a free book. Download the forms now from the Donate section or download our latest leaflet which includes an easy tear-off section. You can then pop it in an envelope and return to us.

June 14: Book Review — 'One dad: encountering God', Brad Lincoln
This is a book which should resonate with all dads, especially those with young children. What I like about it is that it is very much a man’s book , although it can still be read and enjoyed by women. It is about one man’s reflections on God - especially God as our father.
What also appeals to me is the author’s honesty and his avoidance of cliché-ridden answers to questions posed. Brad Lincoln takes the fruit of the Spirit. He explores these as he examines his relationship with God and links this to his relationship with his own children.
It is the kind of book which lends itself to reading a chapter a night before going to sleep. That way you’re bound to have read it through in about ten days.
It contains lots of practical advice as it explores what it means to be a dad. At the end there are some handy questions on each chapter which can be tackled individually or in a group.
I recommend you read it, reflect on God’s fatherly care for you and let it help you to be as good a dad as you can be to the children your heavenly dad has been pleased to bless you with.
Allan Robertson, Manager - Christian Men Together for Scotland
(The book is published by BRF and costs £6.99)

June 9: Paint-balling at Rowallan Activity centre
Twenty five guys from the Kilmarnock area went paint-balling on Wednesday 9 June with Scottish Paintball at the Rowallan Activity Centre on the outskirts of Kilmarnock. They paid £20 per head for two one-hour sessions, starting at 7.30pm and had a great time crawling through the bushes and mud! All the kit required was included in the price, and the course used was very well set up with ditches, boulders, huts and even the skeleton of an old aircraft. Everyone had a great time with a few red blobs around the body to remind them of their night of soldiering! More than half the guys were non church friends. Recommended for a good night of fun and war games!

The yearly five-a-side football tournament organised by the Greenview men’s group was a great success again this year. Eight teams participated in the competition last week, on three pitches at Nether Pollok. It was one of the best nights we have had for the tournament, and with each team being allowed two reserves we had a total of 60 plus men present, including officials and spectators.
The winning team were the ‘East Kilbride Athens’ (see picture) who picked up the trophy for the second time within a few years. There was also a prize for the ‘man of the match’ and pizza was served to everyone at the end. We also distributed the story of David McMinn in a leaflet entitled ‘What God means to me’ along with some copies of John’s Gospel.
A flyer was handed out telling everyone about the White Water rafting event on the river Tay on Saturday 28 August.
It would be good to see others organising a tournament in their area.

Tony Antony completes his Scottish Tour
Following events in Glasgow, Airdrie and Peebles, Tony picked up the second leg of his visit by visiting Inverness Prison followed by an evening event in the city where around 200 men gathered in Culduthel Christian Centre to hear Tony tell his story and present a Gospel message.
A visit to Fraserburgh saw Tony speak to 700 people, and a further 200 in Dundee. The weekend included the second of two evangelism seminars, this time in Edinburgh followed by another two packed out events – 500 men in Edinburgh and 800 people in Ayr on the Sunday evening. Throughout the second part of week, well over 150 people came forward to become Christians – praise God!
Tony’s tour concluded by speaking with each pupil at Coatbridge High School, and with over 40 men at Kilmarnock Prison.
An exceptionally busy week, yet one that was richly rewarding for all who heard Tony speak, and for all who took part in organizing the events. Give thanks to God and pray for those who have recently become Christians. Thank the Lord too for Tony and his willingness to share his story of what God has done in his life.February 24
Tony Antony comes to town
The first Releasing the Handbrake on the Great Commission seminar with Tony Anthony was held last Saturday. There were 40 delegates present to hear Tony and his team. It was a really inspiring day which enthused everyone with fresh motivation to reach out to our needy world with the good news of the Gospel. We were all reminded that our job is to sow the seed and it is God who will cause the growth. We don't win souls - that's God's responsibility. We also heard about how Satan tries to change or dilute the message and ways to prevent that from happening. If you didn't manage along then you missed out on a very worthwhile day!
Meanwhile Tony has now completed visits to Glasgow, Airdrie and Peebles.
Between the Glasgow and Airdie, over 1,100 people were present to hear Tony tell his story and to present a clear Gospel message. There were a number of people who responded at the end of both events either to re-dedicate their lives or to commit their lives to Christ.Meanwhile, there was an excellent turnout from local people in Peebles to hear Tony Anthony. There had been publicity in the town for weeks before the event. The evening began with local singer Jane MacDowall singing some of her own songs. After that George Osborn of Avanti Ministries spoke briefly about how he became a Christian before Tony told his story and presented a clear Gospel message. There was a large response to his appeal at the end of the evening. All we can say is "Praise the Lord!".
Tony completes his tour this week with visits to Fraserburgh tonight, followed by Dundee, Edinburgh and Ayr.

Revival Radio supporting CMT
We are grateful to our friends at Revival Radio for the support they have given to Christian Men Together for Scotland over the last few years.
Earlier this month, Allan Robertson and Matthew McKinnon had the privilege of being on Neil Smith's 'Great Adventure' programme, which is broadcast every Tuesday night at 9.30pm. It's a mixture of music and chat with those who have a story to tell. It was good to hear Matthew and Allan recount the separate pathways that brought them together in the ministry of Christian Men Together, and to hear them speak of the development of CMT over the last three years. Of course the opportunity was taken to discuss the coming Tony Anthony visit, and also the next Men’s Dinner in the Carmichael Halls on Friday 19 March. The winner of the phone-in Quiz received two tickets to the March Dinner, when Gram Seed will share his 'Great Adventure' with God in an after dinner speech.
Recounting the way God has led us in life is a good exercise for us all, as it helps us to continue our walk of faith with our eyes fixed on Jesus. Heb 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (NIV). You can listen to Revival Radio in Glasgow and beyond on 100.8FM.

Called, challenged and commissioned
We had a tremendous day at theCommission on Saturday 6 February with 500 men present to hear Ian Coffey speak on being "called", "challenged" and "commissioned". The worship was led by Robin Mark and his band. It was a truly uplifting experience.
CMT were given an opportunity just before lunch to speak about our plans for the year ahead. We mentioned the visit of Tony Anthony in February and the visit of Alistair Begg in October. Every delegate received a pack with information about these visits, fundraising and an invitation to volunteer to help in the work of CMT. There were lots of enquiries at our stall including how to sign up as supporters, and how to joining the forthcoming 'Wild at Heart'.
Next year's theCommission event is taking a step of faith by expanding to the main 2,000 seater auditorium at the Concert Hall in September and the speaker will be Geoff Lucas.

£3,000 sent to projects
Two cheques for £1,500 have now been sent to both projects which we raised money for during 2009.
UFM have acknowledged the cheque which will assist Sue Trenier in her Health Education Programme in Papua. Iain Cameron (UFM Scottish Secretary) writes that the money "will be a tremendous encouragement to Sue as she continues in her ministry to bring healing and God's grace to the lives of so many people". The other cheque was sent to YFC to help in their Kick Pitch programme in Scotland. They are equally delighted to accept this gift and thank CMT supporters for their fundraising efforts. The pitch is currently in regular use throughout the Borders and is helping to create good relationships with young people.
Well done to everyone who contributed to raising the money especially those who participated in the white-water rafting. Once all the gift aid has been reclaimed further money will be sent to both projects.
Look out for details of the projects we'll be supporting in 2010 and ways we hope to raise the money.
