The first ever TORQUE music festival for men took place in Irvine, Ayrshire on Friday 20 May when over 200 men gathered, about 25% of whom travelled by motorcycle. There were many bands including the headline act Brian Houston. The weather was perfect for the occasion which was ideal for the outdoor barbeque, the coffee trailer, the overnight camping and the artists from 'Gospelwalz' in France who showed off their 'redeemed' graffiti style of work. John MacKinnon brought a challenge from the Bible 'I'm not ashamed of the gospel' and a number of men signed up for Alpha and Christianity Explored courses afterwards.
Christian Men Together were represented by Allan Robertson who had the CMT stand there. Click on the above link to catch a flavour of the event.
You needed to be tough to take part in the Greenview football tournament on Tuesday 24 May. It was a cold blustery night with strong gusts of wind and the constant threat of yet more rain, but eight teams competed none-the- less at Nethercraigs Sports ground in Pollok, Glasgow. Check out the video and read more under the news section.
Greenview Mens Mini Golf night at Xscape in the Braehead complex, took place on Friday 19 November 2010. Over thirty men took part and we met there at 7.10 pm for a 7.30pm start. This gave us time to let everyone know what team they were in and what hole they were starting at. The cost of the night was £12.00 per head, which included an 18 hole round of mini golf plus a selection of food from the snack bars main menu. The car park was busy but everyone found a place to park.
Our name is spreading! There was a very interesting article in Septembers edition of œ Woman Alive entitled œWhere have all the men gone? Matthew McKinnon, our chairman, wrote a letter praising the magazine for the article and you can read his letter which is published in the November issue of the magazine.
It is encouraging to note that so many women are concerned about the lack of men in church. It would be good if more men were just as concerned and willing to do something about it.
