Matthew McKinnon
Matthew McKinnon - Matthew is married to Muriel and they have three children and nine grandchildren. An engineer by training, he worked for many years in the cane sugar business. His travels took him to Thailand where he felt the call of God to overseas mission. In the late eighties and early nineties he was Tearfund's Manager for East African Affairs stationed in Nairobi, Kenya, and travelled extensively in Africa. On his return to Scotland he commenced work with Mission Aviation Fellowship, and set up their office in Glasgow and a network of volunteers. He says "As I travelled for ten years throughout Scotland I had a growing burden to see Scottish men returning to church and embracing again the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ".
James Milner-Smith
James Milner Smith - James is a Project Manager with a windfarm developer. This involves the pleasures of attempting to understand and juggle the needs and desires of planners, lawyers, landowners, lawyers, contractors, lawyers, consultants, lawyers, investors and lawyers. James is married to Lisa with two young children (Emily and Daniel), Hyphen the dog and Martin the goldfish. They live in Bridge of Weir, near Glasgow, and attend Queen’s Park Baptist Church, Glasgow, where James has been involved in setting up and leading the men’s ministries (Watchmen and Men’s Breakfast).
Pete Chirnside
Peter Chirnside - Peter studied at Dundee University, where he met his wife Fiona. They have 2 children and 4 grandsons. Initially employed as a Biology teacher, Peter was thoroughly involved in Scripture Union and rugby. He was also involved in the local church and community. In 1979 he was appointed as Co-ordinator for Tearfund in Scotland. He continued in this role for 30 years and recently stepped down from this work. He has travelled extensively in Scotland and has taken several groups of supporters and volunteers overseas to visit Tearfund projects. He has been privileged to meet many outstanding Christian people and longs to see a church filled with people who are committed to serve Jesus in significant ways in all walks of life.
Dr Paul Tarrant (Chairman)
Dr Paul Tarrant – Paul is a family man and has been a Family Doctor in the West of Scotland now for 30 years. He is involved in many aspects of Christian service and has travelled extensively on missions consultancy work. He has a particular interest in Church planting and Discipleship making and his recent ‘Power Walking for Disciples’ series of papers provide an invaluable tool for all who desire a closer walk with God. He lists his favourite movies as ‘City of Joy’ and ‘Entrapment’ and enjoys a wide variety of music, from classical to modern worship songs. Not surprisingly his favourite book is The Bible!
